Morieka Johnson

Morieka Johnson, Director of Communications, Emory Police Department

As a proud Emory alum, Morieka's role involves strengthening EPD's relationship with Emory students, faculty and staff. She leads EPD events, programs and initiatives aligned with that mission.

Micah Tucker

Micah Tucker, Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development, Pathways Center

Micah is a career coach for Emory students with career interests in Public Policy, Government, and International Affairs. He provides coaching and resources that support students in acquiring ethically-grounded professional competency, life-ready resilience, and resolution in obtaining intentional post-graduate employment or continuing education opportunities.

Goals

  1. Provide a unified voice to administration and the Emory community on matters to Black employees while advancing a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  2. Increase awareness of cultural differences by providing a forum for discussions and the exchange of ideas about matters to Black staff, faculty, and their allies at Emory University.
  3. Foster networking, professional and personal development, mentoring, and leadership opportunities while focusing on the retention, support, learning and advancement of Black employees.
  4. Provide a mutually supportive, social, and cultural environment to celebrate the contributions of Black history to promote awareness and understanding at Emory.

Focus Areas

  • Cultivate a sense of community. We want to foster deeper employee connections—in big and small ways.
  • Amplify personal and professional development. Our programming will highlight Emory resources, while helping employees to network and grow personally and professionally.
  • Advocate. We will work to ensure that our collective voices are heard by Emory leadership.
