Your First Day

Below is a list of suggested tasks to help you take care of key items on your first day.

Complete your Form I-9

On your first day, you will need to bring in documentation so that your department HR Rep can complete Section 2 of your Form I-9. Until this step is complete, you will not be entered into the HR PeopleSoft system and will not be able to enroll in your benefits.

Attend your Department Orientation

Some departments may offer their own form of orientation for new employees. This varies by department.

Register to Attend New Employee Welcome Session

If you have not already registered to attend the New Employee Welcome Session, you should register for the next available session. You do not have to attend the Welcome Session on your first day of employment with Emory.

Meet with your Manager

Meet with your manager to discuss your initial assignments, the purpose of your work, and how it fits into your department's organizational structure and goals.

Clarify your first week’s schedule and confirm if there is any required or recommended training.

Review your hours of work. Ask questions about policies and procedures for overtime, use of vacation and sick time, holidays, and any flexible work policies or procedures.

Ask any other questions you have about benefits, important deadlines, etc.

Set up your Personal Workspace

Set up your voice mail and email.

Get keys and building access.

Make sure all of your technology needs are requested - laptop, software, etc.

Get your Parking Tag and EmoryCard

Parking Tag

Pick up your Emory parking tag at Emory Transportation and Parking, located in the Starvine Parking Deck at Clairmont Campus, 1945 Starvine Way, Decatur, GA 30033.

EmoryCard

You should upload a photo as part of your online onboarding tasks that will be used for your EmoryCard. Pick up your card at the EmoryCard Office, located at Boisfeuillet Jones Building, Room 101.
