Caregiver Education & Support Group Expands to the Oxford Community

The recently announced Families in Transition education and support group offered through Wesley Woods
on the Emory campus has been well received by caregivers in the community. Employees are finding relief
and support in knowing that they are not alone with the overwhelming responsibilities of being a caregiver.
They are becoming educated on issues pertaining to community resources and health concerns including
dementia and Alzheimer’s. The group has attracted people looking for help with the various stages of
planning and caring for an aging or sick family member.

The Emory Work-Life Resource Center, along with Oxford College has put together a similar group to offer
employees at Oxford.  The Community Caregiver’s Education & Support Group aims to help caregivers in
the Oxford and nearby communities by providing education and support to caregivers. The new group will
be facilitated by Callie Curington Weber, M Div. She is a Bereavement Coordinator with Abbey Hospice and
works with patients and their families every day. Abbey Hospice has been providing services in the metro
area for more a decade. They offers training and assistance to people caring for sick loved ones, spiritual
and respite care, bereavement, and community referral. The Community Caregiver’s Education & Support
Group will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month beginning in October. It will be held from
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room of the library.
