Learning & Organizational Development (OD) is Now Accepting Program Applications

Applications for the Manager Development Program, Supervisor Development Program, Administrative Professional Program and Mentor Emory are available on the Learning & OD website. The submission deadline is Friday, November 2, 2012.

Manager Development Program
Managers play a critical role in advancing the mission of the University.  They have significant responsibilities in formulating and administering policies and programs, as well as managing people and processes.  As Emory University endeavors to become the employer of choice, developing managers who are capable of shaping the future of the organization is essential.

Ideal Candidates:  Experienced managers, and individuals who have been hired or recently promoted to a management role (e.g., current managers, assistant/associate directors, or directors).  It is also ideal for those who have three or more years of experience in a management role but have not had formal management training.  The program is also appropriate for faculty and principal investigators that supervise people.

Supervisor Development Program
Front-line supervisors play a critical role in the daily operations of departments within the University.  Most supervisors have the responsibility of directing the work of others by hiring, developing, motivating and monitoring the performance of the staff.

Ideal Candidates: Individuals who are new to leadership or recently promoted to a role with supervisory responsibilities (e.g., new supervisors or managers or current associate directors, directors, supervisors, or team leaders).  Faculty members are eligible and encouraged to participate in the program.

Administrative Professional Program
The role of the administrative professional has evolved greatly in recent years. Administrative professionals have a wide range of responsibilities that go beyond answering the phone and handling clerical details of the office. Many administrative professionals manage projects, and coordinate the daily operations of their department.

Ideal Candidates:  Any full time employee of Emory University in an administrative role (e.g. Administrative Assistant, Program Coordinator, Secretary, etc.).
