Emory Faculty and Staff to get Flu Shots at Kroger Pharmacies

flushotsThe process for getting your annual flu shot has changed!  This year, rather than offering a series of flu shot clinics across campus, Emory’s Faculty Staff Assistance Program will partner with Kroger Pharmacies to offer faculty and staff annual flu vaccinations from October 17 through December 31, 2011. We heard from you that the times for the flu shot clinics on campus were not always convenient, there were often long lines, and you wanted other alternatives to be considered.

So we began to look around for alternatives that would increase convenience and access.  Utilizing Kroger to provide flu vaccinations will allow you to get your flu shot on your own time at a Kroger location that is most convenient for you.  No more waiting in lines!  And you can get your shot as early as you want after October 17, so that you will have a jump on the flu season!  Flu shots will still be offered free of charge for benefits eligible faculty and staff.

Getting your flu shot is as easy as 1.2.3.

  1. Download Your Voucher. Benefits eligible employees will need to download a voucher to receive their flu shot free of charge at a Kroger Pharmacy.  Non-benefits eligible employees can download a coupon to receive a flu shot at a discounted price of $21. Vouchers can be downloaded between October 17 – December 31 at
  2. Take Your Voucher (or coupon) and a photo ID to a Kroger Pharmacy between October 17 and December 31, 2011. No appointment necessary!  Find your nearest Kroger Pharmacy at or call 1.800.KROGERS.
  3. Get your flu shot.

The Kroger Pharmacy Vouchers are for Emory Faculty and Staff Only
Only Emory University faculty and staff will use the new Kroger Pharmacy vouchers.  Emory students will get their flu shots through Student Health Services.  Emory Healthcare (EHC) employees as well as those Emory University employees* who work in an EHC facility, will get their flu shots through Emory Healthcare Employee Health.  For a quick guide to Emory’s flu shots, click here.

*Note: If you are an Emory University employee working in an EHC facility and choose to get your flu vaccine either through your primary care doctor or through Kroger, you will need to get documentation to submit with Employee Health to validate that you did receive a flu shot this year. If using Kroger, you will also be asked to sign a medical release.

Kroger has 126 pharmacies in metro Atlanta and four pharmacies are within a 10 mile radius of the Oxford campus. Please note that not all Kroger grocery stores have in-store pharmacies (for example, the Kroger at Sage Hills on Briarcliff does not have a pharmacy, however, the Kroger at Toco Hills on LaVista does).  Find your nearest Kroger Pharmacy at or call 1.800.KROGERS.  Most Kroger pharmacy hours are:  Monday-Friday:  9:00 am to 9:00 pm; Saturday:  9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Sunday: 11:00 am-7:00 pm.  It is advisable to call the Kroger you plan to visit and check hours ahead of time.
