Flu Shots

Protect yourself from the flu by getting vaccinated each year. Options for Emory University faculty and staff (and covered dependents) include:

Employees and covered dependents on the Emory POS or HSA medical plans can get a free flu shot at any pharmacy that accepts CVS Caremark. You will need to present your prescription drug card (CVS Caremark). You can get your flu vaccine at any time.

Your doctor's office as part of your preventive exam:

For employees covered under one of Emory's medical plans, you can get a flu shot as part of your preventive exam at no charge (EHN or in-network doctors only). Preventive exams are covered at 100 percent (which means there is no charge to you). However, if you already had your preventive exam this year and make an appointment for a flu shot, you may be charged for the visit. The medical plan will cover only one preventive exam per year.

Important Reminder: If you are an Emory University employee who works in an Emory Healthcare (EHC) facility, you are required to receive the flu vaccination or complete a medical or religious exemption. You should attend one of the EHC Flu Marathon events to get your vaccination. Visit the EHC Intranet (www.ourehc.org) for the schedule. If you decide to get your flu vaccination through your local pharmacy or primary care doctor rather than attending the EHC Flu Marathon, you will need to get documentation to submit with Employee Health to validate that you did receive a flu shot this year. FAX proof to 404-686-1527.

Emory employees not on the Emory medical plan should contact their insurance provider for flu shot options. Flu shots are free under the Affordable Care Act (http://www.hhs.gov/answers/affordable-care-act/will-the-aca-cover-my-flu-shot/index.html).
