MORE NEWS YOU CAN USE
Getting a Flu Shot is Critical this Year
Getting an annual flu vaccine is the best way to reduce your risk of getting sick with seasonal flu and spreading it to others. It is even more critical to get a flu shot this particular flu season because of the added complexities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only should you get a flu shot, but you should also encourage all of your friends and family members to get one as well! As an Emory employee, you have several options for getting a free flu shot. Learn how.

Faculty and Staff Requirements for Being On Campus

If You Plan to Come On Campus:
If you plan to come to campus for ANY REASON – to make copies, to pick up mail, or if you have been approved to work/teach on campus – you MUST complete the 5-step onboarding process AND receive clearance notification by email prior to coming to campus.

If You Want a COVID-19 Test:
Faculty and staff who are asymptomatic and have completed the onboarding process have access to optional COVID-19 testing. Information about testing can be found on the Emory Forward website

Face Covering Adherence:
Emory currently has an operating condition status of “orange”, which means everyone who is on campus is required to wear a face covering. Please follow these guidelines should you need to remind someone of the face covering requirement.

New Staff Training Series
Learning and Organizational Development in partnership with Work Life, is launching a new Staff Training Series that consist of short, interactive Zoom sessions that will provide tips and tools to individuals in a “non-people manager” position.  These sessions are focused on topics such as providing feedback, ensuring productivity, surviving work-life during a pandemic, working remotely, and customer service. You can register for the sessions in the ELMS. Most sessions are between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Learn more.

Deadline for Registering to Vote is Today
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 5, 2020. You can check your voter registration status and register to vote online here.
Once you’ve registered, make a plan to vote:

Voting Policy
Remember, Emory now allows up to 4 hours paid time, as needed, for voting on Election Day or advance/early voting. If you plan to use paid time to vote, let your supervisor know in advance.

In Person Voting Reminders
If you decide to vote in person, be prepared for a wait as it is expected voter turnout will be higher than usual.

Also remember to stay safe by wearing a mask and keeping a 6 ft. distance from others while waiting to cast your vote.

Symptom Tracker on LiveSafe App
Access the new Emory COVID-19 Symptom Tracker from your desktop or the LiveSafe* Mobile App:

- Increase your awareness of signs and symptoms.

- Learn what to do if you develop signs and symptoms.

- Provide epidemiologic data that could be useful in monitoring for outbreaks within the Emory Community.

* LiveSafe is a personal safety mobile app that Emory University provides to all students, faculty, and staff to download for free. The app provides a quick, convenient, and discreet way to communicate directly with Emory University safety officials, enhancing your overall safety and allowing Emory University Police to better protect you.

Healing Through Art: Sharing Our Grief, Loss, and Hope
The past months have been a traumatic time for individuals, communities, and our world. The illness, deaths, and life changes brought about by the COVID19 pandemic alongside continued anti-Black violence and serious immigration concerns have undoubtedly taken a toll on our Emory community. The grief compounded with continued social distancing measures have made it difficult to acknowledge, name, and share these hardships. We hope to facilitate a virtual space to help us connect and share our grief. We hope this platform can remind our community members that they are not alone.

With Healing Through Art, we invite the Emory community to individually and collectively express and process our experiences of grief and loss.

Steps to participate:

  1. Create your representation of grief, loss, or change, and/or where you may be finding hope. Your choice of expression can come in various forms. You could create a photograph, a drawing, a collage, a painting, a poem, or a song.

  2. Submit your art by uploading it here: http://bit.ly/EmoryHealingThroughArt

Participate, find resources, and continue the conversation here: http://bit.ly/EmoryHealingThroughArt. You can also see the live gallery here: https://www.instagram.com/emory_hta/

For questions, please contact religiouslife@emory.edu. Sponsored by the Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life and the Oxford College Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Special thanks to: Tasha Dobbin-Bennett, Rohini Guin, Hannah Kreuziger, Nikita Dsouza, Emory Art Club, and the Emory and Oxford College Counseling Centers.
