Flu Vaccinations
Flu season is approaching which means it’s time to get a flu shot. The 2015-2016 vaccine will protect against three different flu virus strains: influenza A (H1N1) virus, influenza A (H3N2) virus, and influenza B virus. In order to be protected against seasonal influenza, you must get a flu shot each and every year. Emory Faculty and staff who are on the Emory medical plan (and their covered dependents) can receive a free flu vaccine. Learn more


Move More Challenge is On!
The Move More Challenge is on! Registration for the challenge has closed and we now have over 8,000 individuals registered and 41 teams (departments/schools) participating.  If you are participating, make sure that you have officially “joined” the 2015 Move More Challenge on the Fitbit website in order to take advantage of all the Challenge’s benefits and be eligible for the reward drawings after Week 4 and after Week 8. President Wagner Urges Support for Refugees
In a letter to the Emory community, President James Wagner encourages support for relief agencies dedicated to aiding refugees and other migrants displaced by the catastrophe unfolding in Syria, Libya and Iraq. Read more.


Mandatory Title IX Training for all Emory Staff
Emory staff members should have received information and instructions about how to participate in mandatory campus-wide Title IX training via email on Monday, Sept. 14. The online training module, which can be completed in 45 minutes or less, is part of a three-year initiative approved by the university last year to provide training concerning issues of sexual assault awareness. Recovery Support Series
The Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is offering a series of free, confidential, interactive workshops that are open to Emory employees who are in active recovery from alcohol and other substances. Participation provides an opportunity to connect with fellow employees in recovery and strengthen relapse prevention skills throughout the year.  The next workshop, Safeguard Your Recovery During the Holidays, will be held Friday, October 30, at 11:30am at FSAP. 5th Annual Winship Win the Fight 5K Set for October 3rd
Emory’s 2015 Winship 5K is scheduled for Saturday, October 3.  Runners/walkers will start to arrive at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.  3,000 people are expected to participate and there is a new route this year.  Learn more.

Fall Workshop Series for Caregivers
The Emory WorkLife Resource Center announces it Fall Workshop Series for Caregivers. Three separate workshops will be offered September through November; topics include: legal decisions in caregiving, difficult conversations with loved ones, and a panel discussion on creating your care team.  All of the workshops are led by experts in the fields of aging, geriatric medicine, gerontology, geriatric pharmacy, and elder law.
