Emory Staff Honored for Years of Service

Emory University congratulates our staff members who have achieved service award milestones in 2020. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to celebrate our honorees at a luncheon event this year. New Child Care Resources for COVID-19
While child care options have been limited since the COVID-19 pandemic began, some centers and summer camps have begun to open. Child care resources have been posted to the HR Website’s Working Through COVID-19 page. In addition to centers and camps, there are also resources for in-home care and virtual programs. FSA Special Enrollment
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRS has made some changes to Healthcare Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). These changes allow you to enroll in an FSA or make changes to your existing FSA during a special enrollment period (July 1, 2020 through October 31, 2020). Additionally, with the passing of the CARES Act, FSA funds can now be used for over-the-counter medications without a prescription. Learn more.

Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
Are you concerned about developing diabetes?  Diabetes can often be prevented or managed through physical activity, diet, and weight management.  Emory has a variety of programs and services to help you prevent or manage diabetes.

Emory’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a one-year, small group program that teaches you how to eat healthy, increase your physical activity and manage your stress in order to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.  Emory has made a lasting commitment to the health and wellness of our faculty and staff and is pleased to be offering this supportive program to Emory employees at no charge.

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • Have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater (for Asian Americans, 23 or greater), AND
  • Have prediabetes diagnosed by a blood test, OR
  • Have history of gestational diabetes, OR
  • Screen positive for prediabetes using the American Diabetes Association risk test

New DPP groups will be starting in September! Register today to attend an information session.

During this time of change and adaptation, many of us have struggled with maintaining healthy eating habits.  Join this group discussion that will focus on a different nutrition topic each week to learn some tips for nutrition success!  We will meet via Zoom. Learning and Organizational Development Announces General Enrollment Class Offerings
Learning and Organizational Development announces general enrollment classes which will take place June – August 2020. All sessions are virtual or online. Virtual courses will be offered via Zoom. The Zoom details will be provided by the class facilitator, two days before the session. Online courses can be taken at any time. View upcoming classes.


Year-End Performance Reviews Due Soon; Training Available
The year-end performance reviews will be due soon and this year has been particularly challenging for many due to Covid-19.  New guidelines, behavior examples, and job aides have been created to make the process easier this year.  New competencies were also unveiled this year for senior level leaders. If you were unable to attend one of the Performance Management Training in Covid-19 World classes, the recorded Zoom sessions have been uploaded into ELMS:

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Offers Upcoming Workshops for Faculty and Staff 

Personal Leadership: Making a World of Difference - ISSS invites all faculty and staff to attend this timely new course! Participants will have an opportunity to develop their personal leadership skills, write a vision statement, be better able to handle difficult situations in their work and personal lives, and more effectively engage across cultures and other differences.
