Award of Distinction Call for Nominations

Nominations are currently being accepted for Emory University's Award of Distinction Program. Each year, the program recognizes approximately 10-15 university staff employees who have made outstanding contributions to the Emory Community through their initiative, innovation and leadership. Nomination eligibility includes: all regular, full- and part-time staff who have been employed for at least one year. Previous awardees are eligible for nominations. Honorees are recognized at a special dinner and also receive a $1,000 award. The deadline to submit nominations is September 7, 2017. Learn more.

Contest! Submit Your Ideas to Name the New Healthy Emory Web Platform
In January, Healthy Emory will launch a new web platform (web portal and mobile app) that will serve as a “one-stop-shop” for Emory’s employee health and wellbeing programs. We want your ideas in naming this exciting new platform! Submit your ideas here before midnight, Tuesday, August 22. A committee will review the submissions and select the winning entry. The winner will be announced in September and will receive a Healthy Emory insulated lunch bag.


PeopleSoft/Self-Service and Emory Learning Management System (ELMS) Getting a New Look
Later this summer, members of the Emory community will find a newly designed homepage for ELMS and PeopleSoft/Self-Service. The Emory Learning Management System/ELMS will be upgraded in August followed by the PeopleSoft/Self-Service upgrade in September. Improvements include: easier navigation, new features, and more control over maintaining your information. Look for more announcements about these upgrades in the future


“Active Works” Seeks to Change a Culture Of Sitting
Sitting is the new smoking and 52% of the Emory population sits most of the day. A new campaign by Healthy Emory, “Active Works” seeks to change this culture of sitting. Whether it’s hosting a walking meeting, taking a few minutes to stretch throughout your day, or just using the stairs more regularly, staying “active works!” Visit the new Active Works webpage for tips and ideas to add more movement to your work day or register for the upcoming webinar:

Move More Challenge is Moving to Spring 2018
The ever-popular Move More Challenge is returning in the spring of 2018, with a start date in March. For those who want to “practice up,” this fall with an upgraded Fitbit, the employee online storefront is opening back up in September. Emory employees can purchase a new Fitbit device with the Emory subsidized discount. Friends and family members can also purchase Fitbits at a special discount. The opening of the storefront will be announced in the coming weeks.


New Online Training for HR Rep Certification
In cooperation with Emory’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, and their partnership with LawRoom Online Training, new courses are being offered in the HR Rep Certification Program. These are a great way to learn the law behind Emory’s policies. Learn more.


Is Your Address and Personal Information Up-To-Date In Self-Service?
Human Resources will soon be mailing important information about annual benefits enrollment, so now is a good time to go into Self-Service/PeopleSoft and look over your personal information. Using Self-Service, you can update your mailing address, emergency contacts, phone numbers, marital status, and more. Learn more.


Certify Your Office with the Green Office Program!
Emory’s Office of Sustainability is asking for offices to participate in reducing energy consumption and waste within their offices, in order to save money as well as the environment! Offices also have the chance to bring $5,000 towards sustainable initiatives within their office.
