Ethics Video Contest

In the essay contest held by the Administrative Compliance Office last year, we asked you to write about one of the values expressed in Emory’s Statement of Ethical Principles. This year, we invite you to make a video about ethical engagement at Emory. The video could, for example:

  • Convey the significance of one of the Statement’s principles to the Emory community or to your specific department or unit;
  • Be an educational video on one or more of the Statement’s principles;
  • Apply some of the Statement’s principles to a specific ethical issue one might encounter while working at Emory; or
  • Highlight the actions of one of your colleagues that exemplifies ethical engagement

There is no right or wrong way to make your video, so please feel free to be creative. The only requirements are that it be two minutes or less and contain no copyrighted material. Submissions are due by Friday, June 12, 2015.

You may collaborate with up to four other Emory employees. The maker(s) of the best video, as chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a $50 gift card (each collaborator will receive a gift card), and the winning video will be published on the Compliance and Ethics website (with permission). Everyone submitting an eligible video will receive a Certificate of Participation and a small gift. The winner of the contest will be announced in Emory’s News You Can Use.

Videos will be judged by Administrative Compliance staff and faculty, alumni, and graduate students from the Emory Center for Ethics on the following criteria:

  • Originality and creativity of the content
  • Clarity of the message
  • Ethical reflection

To submit your video: upload it to YouTube and email the link to the video to Scotty Jenkins at bsjenki@emory.edu.  To upload your video, you must have an account with YouTube. To sign up for a free YouTube account, visit https://accounts.google.com/SignUp and follow the instructions for registration. If you do not want your video accessible to the public, you can make it unlisted (unavailable to the public but accessible to anyone who has the link) by adjusting the video’s privacy settings. To learn more about this option, visit https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/157177?hl=en.

Questions?  Please contact Scotty Jenkins at bsjenki@emory.edu. Thanks for your support of ethical engagement at Emory!
